Ophthalmological screening of students at the Lublin University of Technology is underway.

Ophthalmological screening of students at the Lublin University of Technology is underway as part of the Lublin Digital Union project! The pilot programme allowed the team to test the planned screening scheme in practice, which means that further screening can be carried out efficiently and effectively despite its large scale. Participants were able to count on a comprehensive eye examination – from basic elements such as refraction testing and slit lamp examination to tests using the latest technologies for detecting disorders of the anterior segment of the eye.

“The project aims to assess the prevalence of visual impairment in young adults and to develop models for detecting refractive errors. With the support of specialists from the Lublin University of Technology, models based on artificial intelligence will be developed to support ophthalmic diagnostics,” says Tomasz Chorągiewicz, Assocaite Professor, M.D from the General and Paediatric Ophthalmology Clinic of University Clinical Hospital No. 1.

The research was observed by interested medical students from the Student Science Club at the Department and Clinic of General and Paediatric Ophthalmology at the Medical University of Lublin, who were thus able to develop their skills in the field of ophthalmology.
