Activities within the research project
The main objective of the project is to develop a theoretical model for conducting scientific research using modern technologies, digital solutions, and artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine—illustrated through the example of ophthalmology—by leveraging the potential of three Lublin-based universities operating within the Lubelska Unia Cyfrowa, along with testing and implementing this model.
Activities within the research project
Activity I
Creation of a system for monitoring the progression of retinitis pigmentosa
Creation of a system for monitoring the progression of retinitis pigmentosa (RP), depending on the disease-causing mutation, using neural networks (analyzing both retinal structure and visual function), in a cohort of 200 patients with different inheritance patterns of RP within the Polish population.
Activity II
Conducting ophthalmic screening examinations
Conducting ophthalmic screening examinations among 5,000 school-aged children in forms 1–8 from the Lublin Voivodeship by implementing solutions developed during the pilot phase (screening examinations and educational activities).
Activity III
Development of a universal telemedicine system and digital tools for conducting screening examinations
Development of a universal telemedicine system and digital tools for conducting screening examinations among 500 students, using the population of Lublin University of Technology students as a case study.
Activity IV
Conducting screening examinations for corneal diseases
Conducting screening examinations of 1,000 individuals from the group of secondary school students and young adults for corneal diseases.
